Who will use this?

This will be owned by the 3D Lab, but we expect that most of the shops at Twin Cities Maker will find uses for the scanner. Being a metrology grade scanner means that it can be used for finished part verification in addition to the (likely) more common use of reverse engineering parts or making models for 3D printing or CNC.

The scanner needs to be tethered to a computer to operate as it uses the computer's video card to process the scan data.

The scanner would always need to stay on-site.

How much do we need to raise?

The Twin Cities Maker Board has pledged $1,200 to the acquisition of the scanner. This brings us very close to purchasing the Raptor, but depending on how much additional money is raised from member donations, we will purchase

What else?

A relatively high-end computer has already been generously donated to the fund along with a monitor.
