Planning & Execution of a Furniture Project

When it comes to projects, no matter what the type or intended result, the earlier the mistake the greater the effect on the project as a whole.  The most telling errors and oversights are often made before any material is touched.  By building the project in your mind & on paper before touching your material, you'll be able to get the project done not only better but faster in the end!

This class will give you the fundamentals on how to plan your projects by covering the preparation of:

  • a detailed drawing with plan, elevation, section and dimensions
  • the creation of a materials list, a rough cut list and a final cut list
  • a building plan with expected tool use.

About the Instructor

John Lunde has more than 15 years experience as a professional furniture designer and builder and years of experience in project manage and wood shop supervision in the architectural woodwork field.  For ten years he taught Operations Management and Project Management at the university level in Minnesota and South Korea, retiring from the faculty of Metropolitan State University.  He currently is a shop mentor at the MN Tool Library shop and offers classes there and at MC Makers in woodworking subjects.
