LEARN TO MAKE SPOONS in this introductory blacksmithing class! This beginner-level class will teach you how to shape, forge, and finish a functional steel spoon using traditional blacksmithing techniques. You'll gain hands-on experience with basic hammer control, forging methods, and safe shop practices in a supportive environment. By the end of the class, you'll have a handcrafted spoon and the confidence to continue exploring blacksmithing.

In this class students will learn:

Shop safety and proper forge operation
Identifying and maintaining correct forging temperatures
Hammer control and efficient anvil use
Blacksmithing terminology
Isolating material for the spoon bowl
Drawing out the handle
Tapering and shaping the handle
Spreading and forging the bowl

Bending and refining the spoon's overall shape

The below is MANDATORY to participate in the class.

All cotton/natural fiber clothing
Closed toe shoes/boots (NO MESH TOP SHOES)
Eye protection (must be ANSI Z87.1 rated)
