Do you enjoy your cup of jo in the morning? Or your afternoon tea in your cozy mug? Which handle is the most comfortable?
In this two-day workshop we will study the art of the favorite mug. On day 1 we will throw some initial cups and as they dry we will talk about proportions and volume. On day 2 we will draw some possible handles for our cups, we will make the handles and we will attach them.
You may bring in inspiration pictures of mugs you love from home, or if you see one on social media.
This is a practicing workshop, be ready to recycle most of the pieces you make. You can keep two mugs which are included in the price of the workshop. There will be a $7 fee for any additional mug that you would like to keep. You will have access to some coloring slip to decorate your final pieces, these pieces will then be fired with a clear glaze before returned to student. Please allow two-weeks before pick up (Note: We will try our best to have the final pieces ready for pick up before Christmas).
Come ready to get messy. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty; don't worry about clay on your clothes - it washes right off! Also, if you have long hair, make sure you have a way to put it up during class. But most importantly, come ready to have fun!
